In his professional career spanning more than 24 years, he has been mostly involved in international business development and agricultural commodities. His last assignment was at a Senior Management level with one of the worlds’ largest agricultural commodity companies, Olam International Ltd, Singapore.
Close to 20 years of his work experience has been out of India – mostly in Africa and the Middle East, which has given him international exposure at credible positions. He considers himself an Africa expert, having personally visited over 25 out of the 54 countries in Africa and having worked in 4.
Varun decided to come back to India in late 2018 as he wanted to start my own venture which is primarily into trading and consulting with the main objective of forging partnerships between India and Africa and improving agricultural productivity in these countries. Coming back also allows him to spend more time with his aging parents and take care of them.
He is excited to be a part of Chandigarh Angels and wishes to support new and upcoming startups not only with investment but also mentorship, as and when required.
