What starts a Startup: need, greed or freed(om)?

All entrepreneurs have different journeys and different mantras to reach the top. Some successfully complete this journey while others bow out mid way. The obvious question in this case is what actually drives these booming startups – need, greed or freedom.

The first force may be identification of a customer need. If you can create something desirable, which is of utility to your end user, then you are on the right path. It need not mean venturing into a new segment, it can just be a better version of an existing solution. The second force may be called “greed”, i.e., when companies want to grow without significantly unique improvisations. And lastly, entrepreneurs may be influenced by the freedom involved in running their own business instead of trying to fit in traditional jobs. 

Gaurav Vasishta, member of Chandigarh Angels Network gives his take on these three aspects and explains the variation in mindset of entrepreneurs, which is mostly influenced by the stage of their startup.
