Regional angel networks rise to back small-town heroes
Chandigarh’s nine-month-old angel network has 26 investors, mostly first and second-generation entrepreneurs. Though they get around 100 applications a month, they have invested in three startups, of which only one was based in Chandigarh. In the eastern part of the country, Calcutta Angels has invested in 10 companies, of which only one is headquartered in Kolkata.
